La Brasserie - Treignac

We spend a lot of time in Treignac. La Brasserie is our favourite place to go locally for lunch. Today, with it being a Friday, was fish day. I had a lovely Tartare au Saumon to start followed by a wonderfully cooked Duo de Poissons with a Girolles sauce, deep fried fleurs de courgettes and pommes grenaille. All this for €12.

Even though the restaurant was completely full, we (10 persons) were welcomed and offered the breakfast area! Which was perfect with the small children :)Food was very good! We had the salads (melon and foie gras), burgers and children menues. All was very good. Wine (chablis) was also recommendable.Definitely try this restaurant!

Had the much famed Steak. Was ok. Not incredible. Service took a while but I think maybe we should of been more forthright. The Tarte Tatin was incredible though. We had a set 3 course menu for 27 euros. Got quite busy on a Friday night.

The food here is outstanding. Some very simple dishes, some very exotic and complex. All cooked with care and precision. If you care about the provenance of your food and the traditional food if the region this is a great place to eat. Sophisticated and relaxed. Well recommended.

I booked this for a party of friends not because it had great reviews but because it was a short walk from a house we were renting.When we arrived we had little in the way of welcome. Nobody seemed over keen to take our order.After we had ordered the starters came up fairly quickly and were adjudged quite good. For main I had ordered something called a gargantua d'agneau.It was ok ,a bit over cooked,but to call it gargantua was somethings of a misdescription. I could see however that my wife was struggling with her entrecôte steak which was clearly undercooked. We could have course sent it back but that would have meant she was eating on her own so I did a swap with her. The entrecôte was in fact a very poor cut of meat ( I had recently had a very good one) and half of it was fatty and inedible.I am very surprised that the chef let it out of the kitchen.I most certainly would not have served this to guests at home.Puddings were generally nice enough.The place did not have much ambiance.overall the meal was poor value for what it cost . I considered giving this a two but aspects of the meal other than the main course we're ok so it's just a three.Two days before we had dinner at cote t1 plage a marquee restaurant by the lake just up the road where the dinner was excellent.Of the two I would certainly recommend the latter

Superb Sunday lunch. Quality local produce cooked and presented to very high standard. Service was warm and friendly and prompt despite being a busy Sunday afternoon. Worth a visit.

Excellent Sunday lunch, well prepared typical French food and good local wine. Good atmosphere with mainly local clientele enjoying a relaxed Sunday.

Eating as a couple we found the menu to have a wide selection and be reasonably priced. The salads that we ordered were beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked.
