The menu at Hotel La Promenade is varied and offers a reasonable choice. The staff are friendly and professional and service is quick. Don't hesitate to eat here whilst in Gourdon. It's on the Tour de Ville, but a little way round the lesser known part.

We have eaten here before and although it would not win many awards the experience has always been generally OK.This time we were met by polite staff and the meal arrived in a reasonable time. However we had both ordered Lamb chops (a favorite of ours) and they were totally inedible (and at 16 Euro's each not a cheap option for lunch). We always make allowances for the fact that meat is often cooked differently in France and cuts of meat themselves can also differ. So I do not compare lamb meals with those eaten in English restaurants for that reason. However this was dreadful lamb, sinewy, and impossible to chew. We can eat lamb rare but it must be good quality to begin with.(Typically English), we are the last to complain about much at all, but on this occasion my wife told the waitress we simply could not eat the lamb. Instead of any alternatives being offered we then had a lecture from the manager about how the lamb was fine and perfectly good to eat-and he could see no problem at all. I told him that we would simply have to disagree about that.It is the first time in 40 years of eating out that we refused to pay for a meal. We paid for the drinks we had and then left-and will not be going back. Even if we were being unreasonable (which we were not) a complaint such as ours could have been treated with more respect. This is only the second time I have had an experience (either good or bad) that I felt I warranted a review. But the belligerent attitude of the manager made it a necessity.Derek and Rose Jones

Arrived Friday having booked two rooms for two nights as we were attending a wedding on Saturday. Travelled 7 hours to be told no record of booking (through booking.com) even though confirmations of bookings available. The manager, however, was very good and found us alternative accommodation after a lot of phoning around. Probably best to book direct with the hotel!

Not our top choice for places to eat in Gourdon. Food is not very good and bit expensive for what you get. Paper napkins, use the same fork and knife throughout the courses. Service ok but slow. Would not recommend.

If you're really hungry and everywhere else is closed, Hotel La Promenade is a fine place to be. If any of the other restaurants in Gourdon are open, I suggest you try them first. The food was very average. Service was slow and the staff seemed disinterested in us. It's not somewhere I would want to rush back to.

Worst meal ever and I was ill all the next day! I went there for lunch with friends, as we all live in the area we expected a typical french lunch, but what we got was terrible!
