Le Bistrot de la Paix - Briançon

Great food for a verry reasonable prize. Friendly staff, quick service. The quality of food was, judging by the prizes, verry high. 2 persons, 2 3 cours meals, 1 bottle of red wide, bread and a bottle of water was 74 euro. more the worth the money!!

Great meat at this restaurant, so don't be put off by the appalling vegetables! We had hoped to get in to a couple of different restaurants, so took a chance on this one, and were pleasantly suprised. Would have been good not to have the poor waitress with a cold sneezing in to our food!

Our field trip organisers had chosen this restaurant for our first of two dinners in Briancon. It is located within the Cite Vauban on a side street off Grande Rue, a short walk from Cathedrale Briancon. The bistrot is part of the Hotel Auberge de la Paix ('auberge' meaning inn or tavern) so there are rooms one can book upstairs. With our group of more than 20 along with the other customers, the restaurant was fully booked and in a bit of confusion when we dined there. We had some trouble conveying to the waitstaff that the starter and main course on the set menu pre-chosen were not to our palate. One of the leading waitresses then came to sort out our issues and in the end swapped my starter with a lovely salad and then offered me 3 alternative choices for my main. I chose the Duck Confit Parmentier which is similar to a cottage pie, but with duck meat. The portion was small but it was very tasty. My husband's alternative dish was fish and it was very good too. Service was admittedly slow but it may have been due to the complicated orders and the large number of people. Perhaps we would have had a better experience if there were less people and if we had ordered from the a la carte menu. There were some tempting daily specials written on the menu board which I would have loved to have opted for.

We were well advised about the menu. Excellent quality food. Good service. Regional specialities available. Good not stuffy atmosphere

If you want to taste a pretty defend French dinner is a good spot but in my opinion a dinner is not only about food.. It is pretty important the environment due to the service and at le bistro' de la paix is terrible.

This is a restaurant we always go back. We including our 11 years old daughter are never disappointed with our order. The beef tartar, snails and the marinated salmon are our favourite. Kids menu is good and simple. Very friendly staff and the price is reasonable.

We were staying at the hotel where this restaurant is. It took a long time to catch anyone's eye to serve us ... The food was good but not great ...

As we arrived, we were told most of what was mentioned in the menus, could not be ordered. And guess what; they were totally uninterested in filling up the menus with options they actually had. I regret one thing; why didn't I leave immediately. Well I didn't, so I had to suffer through a veeerrry fat pork chop. BTW; the local wine was nice....that's why I will donate 1 star.
