Our hotel host strongly recommended this place--we liked it so well, we went twice for dinner. We saw a strong community presence both times--people stopping in to what in the US would be a decent neighborhood bar, folks getting take out, travelers, etc. No one will rush you--this is a relaxed dining experience. There could be a little music. A very friendly cat may pass through. Two lovely, hard working people are running this place.The food--in general, we saw variations on Scalda Sole's menu just about everywhere in Corsica. Scalda Sole's interpretations of these dishes were well prepared. I'd call out the entrecote, the house/country soup, and the salad du fromage chaud. To me, it was like having the best cook in your family make you something tasty because they were really happy you stopped by. But, this restaurant has standards! We could not order an omelette because the cook was not expecting the fresh cheese she needed to make the omelette for another two days. How many places are you going to go that will not make you an omelette because they're waiting for the freshest possible ingredients?You won't go away hungry--full plates are full, no matter what you choose. And if you choose a grilled meat, it will be grilled in front of you on the hearth.It seems like the dinner service starts at 8 pm--not sure about lunch. If you can speak French, it will help in figuring that out.
