This was the first time we ate in this restaurant. And it was a a very good experience. Good food, nice and friendly service. Well prepared. I have only ONE advice for the restaurant: please pre-warm the plates - pre-chauffez les assiettes s.v.p. - tellement dommage quand les plats ne sont plus assed chauds! But we will surely come back. It is the best restaurant in Barbezieux for sure.

And you might die trying. Quite simple the largest serving of steak tartare I have ever seen. The chef and staff give you a round of applause if you finish it, which I did. It was outstanding.Oh and the rest of the group had a great lunch too. Definitely a place to return to

We ate here for dinner twice and found the food to be tasty and locally produced. The service is excellent from Madame and we enjoyed two nice evenings here.

A nice evening overall. If you can ask to sit out on the 'terrace' or decking area as it's quite nice out there. Friendly and efficient service. Food lacked a little effort with regard to presentation. The foie gras was just plonked onto a piece of slate, steak and chips was small and no vegetables or salad to speak of. Dessert was creme brûlée and the sugar hadn't been melted properly so was still grainy. Ok for the price though at 25€ a head plus drinks.

Just stayed the one night here but was pleasant enough with clean, tidy room at a reasonable price. Location is a little on the edge of town but still walkable to the centre ville.

The Bon Repas is a restaurant decorated in a modern style and is adjacent to the Bon Repos hotel which, as it happens, is unconnected. Living in a small village not far away my wife and I have driven past this restaurant many, many times over the last ten years but today was the first time we have stopped! The restaurant is run by husband and wife team Delphine and Gérald Rouet, with Delphine looking after front of house.Arriving for lunch it was nice to see, as with the majority of French restaurants, a menu du jour displayed outside the front door. At only €13 euros ( including coffee but excluding wine) it was not expensive for a 3 course lunch. No choices though. Again normal in this part of France.Welcomed by Delphine we were pleasantly surprised to be informed that, if we wished, the full menu was also available consisting of 2 menus, at €18 and the other at €24 plus the à la carte. We decided to take the menu du jour. Today there was a salade des gesiers to start with (duck gizzards are very popular hereabouts) and a filet mignon de pork for the main course. Desert was very simple, a carpaccio of oranges, but an ideal finish a well cooked and enjoyable meal.We had a bottle of Cabernet d'Anjou which, whilst not cheap at €17 was not overly expensive given its quality and the prices that a lot of restaurnts charge for their wine.A good bench mark for the restaurant was the fact that we were the only English clients to day out of about 30 diners (still plenty of room). The French like it!All in all an excellent experience, good food and wine and a very friendly welcome. We will be returning in the near future to see if the dinner experience is as pleasant lunch today - I can see no reason why it will not be.

A fairly simple , cosy and clean restaurant , located off the main road between Angoulême and Bordeaux (actually exit Barbezieux Nord) ... and a great food experience . The choice is limited , focussed on local and traditional dishes and the surprise comes with the quality of the food : fresh , locally produced , tasty and for some quite unique . Then the cooking is just perfect . As I was in the area for Professional reasons , I had a chance to come back several times and try several dishes , all simply excellent . The last points are for the friendly reception and the low prices compared to the high quality standard of what is in the plate . I would strongly recommendthis restaurant to anybody travelling near Barbezieux ar lunch or dinner time
