La Casa del Port - Argelès-sur-Mer

This restaurant has very nice location, their food is rather tasty, but we've been waiting for it for about an hour...

The service was friendly but very slow. We waited 40 minutes for our main which was too long when you have a hungry family. I had paella which was too salty for my liking. Average restaurant.

We only found the port on the last evening of our holidays & the atmosphere was wonderful with so many fine restaurants, but we settled on this one which was quite busy. I had never tried mussels before but decided to give them a go, my wife had a fish & king prawns & my son had king prawns, all the dishes were excellent the service friendly & the bill less than €60 including a half carafe of wine, I now love mussels thanks to this restaurant & can't wait to have them again. The only down side was an old man playing accordian outside the restaurant which kinda grated on me but this wasn't the fault of the restaurant & he left after about 15 minutes once his cap was filled.

We were looking for an evening meal on the first day of our break and chose the set menu at La Casa, we came away very pleased with our choice of restaurant and the meal we had, The staff were very helpful and accommodating with a cheery smile.Recommended it to our bed and breakfast and they said they would put their card on their notice board, with our recommendation. We will be back for another meal when we visit later this year.

The atmosphere is nice, french touch and the staff is very friendly. The location overlooking the marina is good. They have a kind of tent in the front so you are protected from the wind.We took the formule 15 Euro (moules, bavette, desert), the kid menu, and the gambas a la plancha. Everything was fine, not haute cuisines but good. The only critic that the red wine in carafe is only average.They also accept credit card and are children friendly.

We popped in having not made a reservation and our orders were taken promptly by what was a quite amiable waitress.My wife went with the calamari as a starter which she said were OK but which had a little too much batter. I had the baked camembert, of which there was plenty, which was OK but a little lacking in taste.For mains, I had the 'mussels catalan' served with fries, which were OK but nothing special, the same being said of my wife's duo of prawns and cod.All was washed down with quite a pleasant rosé.Would we go again. Well, we might as the location overlooking the marina is good while the service and staff were also good. However, there are several other restaurants at the port which we would try first before returning here and if there are better alternatives, we will not.

The food here has always been very nice, but recently I have seen an improvement. The baked Camembert with Parma ham is delightful. Always a favourite restaurant for us when we go, we go at least once every year, however we often end up going there more then that because it is so nice
