If you're looking for somewhere posh, this isn't for you. If you're looking for very friendly staff in a smart but relaxed atmosphere then you won't go far wrong. This seems to be a gathering place for the older locals in the evening where they meet for a drink and some food over a chat or relaxing in front of the large TV on the back wall at the end of the day, however visitors are made equally welcome. The food is reasonably well priced for the quality - particularly the tuna steak which my partner said was absolutely delicious! Sadly some of the desserts were out of stock but the chocolate mousse with whipped cream and wafer on top was another nice and sizeable treat. This isn't a top quality place which I think some of the reviewers here are judging it against, but then it doesn't pretend to be. It is however a surprisingly good eatery in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I'd definitely visit again if in the area.
We really enjoyed our meal at this venue. The dancing couples were very nostalgically dancing on tango music as well!
There are others in town and we did try them but the couple who own this couldn't have made us more welcome. The food was excellent though a little limited in choice but prices are competitive.
Going to Amelie-les-Bains, one has to be aware that this is the 3rd thermal station in France and thousand of people go to this town for medical spa (back pain and asthma,) in other words, you will cross old or sick people there. Nevertheless, the Cafe de Paris is the only cafe which deals with people going to this medical spa treatment and the others passing by and keeping humour up!You can eat well and not so well but the atmosphere is high up, sometimes crazy if you understand French but colourful and pleasant in anycase. If you go through Amelie, here is the place to be!
We had business to conduct in Amelie les Bains after the lunch break and had an hour to kill so we grabbed a table at the Cafe de Paris looking for a bite to eat. In hindsight we should have spent another 5 minutes looking around for a better place. The Croque Monsieur was dry, the fries too salty and the wine, table wine quality at best.
Prime location. Always busy. Can't thing for the life of me why?. Brasserie-style food. Paid 18 euros for a very average cote de boeuf. It was edible, but only just. One of the worst steak
great food and service! the taste of the duck is something else (you really have to try it). we are coming back to the final! thanks for everything
my wife and I stopped on a last Saturday afternoon at midday. every table was occupied, but the owner offered us something apologetically a place in a flooded dining room. we took it and have a wonderful time. we enjoyed teller of. tasty filled, roasted vegetables and a magnificent regional rose. the owner presented us a second pitcher and dessert as a possibility to thank us for a table from the main kitchen room. three cheers for le cafe de paris.
