La Soupe Aux Choux - Vitré

Had a good dinner here. The restaurant is much smaller than in the Tourist Office information, but none the worse for that!Menu is interesting and varied, and very good value. Staff are friendly and attentive.

I was in Vitre for work and tried several different restaurants in the area during my stay. This restaurant was recommended by my local coworkers and it turned out to be my favorite place! (If the locals recommend it, that's always a good sign!) The french cuisine was amazing! I had a salmon spread for starter and "chunk of veal" for the main course which came with snails and a white cream sauce on top. We sat outside but next time I would suggest sitting inside in the basement area - great atmosphere. The service was excellent as well! I would 100% recommend this place if you are looking for a nice place to dine in Vitre.

Had lunch here on a Friday lunchtime in September. Ate on the terrasse.There was a menu du jour which seemed popular. We decided against it and chose from the €26 menu. From that we had chicken kebabs seasoned with curry as starters, then roast rib of pork and pavé de veau as main courses and panacotta as desserts. We also had a pichet of white wine and coffee.All courses were nicely presented. Excellent cuts of meat. Portion sizes just right. Veal and pork perfectly cooked. Good service.

Nice looking place in the heart of medieval Vitre, La Soupe offers slightly chaotic hospitality with reasonably good food at a fair price. My tip, stick to the terrace or street level, don't get put into their downstairs room, it's dark and musty.

Went there with a group of friends for a birthday party. Excellent food, one of the best I had in a long while, special mention to the house speciality: la Soupe Aux Choux et brillant desert. Live jazz music also very good. Service was kind and as fast as possible, considering the huge number of people in the room.Huge meaning HUGE: impossible to go outside to smoke without having a dozen of people moving, and getting to the counter or the toilet was difficult. Guess all the good sides of the place explains it, claustrophobic fellow, just avoid concert nights. To all others, go for it, great place :-)

We were a cycling team on the way to Bordeaux and has booked for 26. Some cyclists were late. Very late . The owners stayed open until 2330 to keep serving and then took one of our older members back to our hotel for us. Great food and service above and beyond ! Many thanks .

A nice restaurant with nice helpful staff who did their best to come up with something vegetarian for me. I was with 5 or 6 colleagues and they were all very happy.

We stumbled across le soupe aux choux on a brief visit to Vitre and are glad that we tried it out. It's a very small restaurant and was full when we arrived, but we sat outside.Service was brisk but friendly. I had the peppered sirloin steak (faux-filet) which was superb. My better half had a dish of lobster, langoustines and prawns which was delicate and delicious.
