We went with a group of 8, 3 of whom were vegetarians ( one did not eat eggs or cheese!!). We gave them a weeks notice and they produced a superb starter and main course for the veggies. The food for the meat eaters was superb too. The entertainment was also first class, with the guitar player on our table able to join in. Alain is a superb host, engaging with all his customers - he can make jokes in English too. Perhaps the greatest testament is that two of the veggies said it was the best vegetarian meal they had eaten out in France.

Good for any time of day, from a quick drink to a full 3 course meal for less than 20 euros. Excellent selection of beers and a good range of wines at reasonable prices. You can just have a plate of (home cooked, not frozen) chips, served with a range of interesting sauces, or a full meal. Particularly good salad starters (seafood, charcuterie, goats cheese etc), mains include casseroles, chicken, steak etc. Allan the proprietor will not only serve you, but serenade you. Regular music evenings featuring keyboard, guitar and singing with a wide range of styles from ragtime piano to ballads and rock. Recommended.

we were asked to come back when we booked a table for 2 on Saturday night. we came to find the only diner this evening and allan was our waiter, entertainer and cook! the meal was good and allan was a...charming host and played gitarre and sang us very sweet. it was an interesting experience than an extra event, especially because it was so different. but at a price of 70 euro for 2 without alcohol it is not something we would do again. eating was good, but without choice of desserts -apple cake (not made to house) for example, it did not live to other restaurants that we know in the opposite, which are exceptional for the same cost. I have always laid an animated restaurant to an empty and with only a few tables and no other guests there was a certain lack of ambiente especially when allan was in the kitchen. we had a good evening, certainly different and one we could remember.

on the terrace next to the garden we sat together with our two children a great three-course dinner. a great host, a great cook and even a small song was played on the gitarre. highly recommended.

we came quite late in wail, a Friday after 9 o'clock, hungry and looking for dinner. we were here and had an amazing evening. it is an incredibly friendly, cozy and intimate place with the most beautiful host, allan. that is not to visit anywhere. if they are impatient or in a hurry. allan takes his time, takes care of all and seems to lead the kitchen and in front of the house, so they think that in common. eating and crying were amazing. allan has made me smooth to a quite remarkable bordeaux, which was good, as it was the excellent bark complicated and was wonderful to drink at a beautiful evening. that is somewhere for very good eating and wein to come, yes, but more than that, the experience from the relaxed atmosphere, to allans sense for humor, to his musical ability. highly recommended.

my father and I were in wail for the night and were very hungry when we were there. we were too early for any restaurant in hesdin to be open, so we were glad to have a restaurant when wail turned out. it was a Thursday night and we were the only guests. the menu is quite expensive and what we got was very good value for money, book ahead when they are a vegetarian, though, I ended much more meat than I normally do. the drinks are expensive, probably to compensate the relatiw cheap menu, but the bill was more than I expected it to be. beautiful owner/cook, who also speaks English. if they do not travel like us, there is a lot of unusual, musical and probably other, experiences waiting for them here;
