We visited here on a recent trip to the Dordogne in France and had a typically French meal cooked by the lady of the house and as such it was excellent, for me not five stars because my personal taste is to have a a sauce with a main course not meat and vegetables on their own.

Friday nights here come alive in the little village of St Laurent La Vallee.Everybody heads here for the perfect Moule Frites! The cream and bacon sauce is excellent and the big chunky fries are superbly cooked. If you are not a lover of moules or have children with you don't worry! The chicken is also wonderful or the option of Confit Canard will keep you most happy indeed!)The vibrant atmosphere adds to a perfectly authentic french dinner, the wine flows and the service is friendly and prompt. We will be back many many times!Merci Beaucoup!

Eating with the locals under the trees and a superb meal of mussels and fries followed down with some beautiful rouge wine. In the last of the summer sun what a great evening. The hosts are very understandable of our broken French and extremely friendly too.If you have time on a Friday evening I would definitely not miss this jewel in the vallee. We did book in advance as we knew this was going to be a busy and event and it did not disappoint.

Went the other Friday with friends for an evening meal of mussels and chips; had a great time with excellent shell fish in a beautiful sauce and greaat chips. Even the dessert was very good. Everything is "basic bistrot" but the wine is drinkable, service friendly and, as soon as you have finished one bowl of food, you are offered another - we got through three between four of us and were full at the end of the evening !!!They seem to do a lot of "themed" evenings but this is popular for Fridays. And the great thing is that it cost 25 euros a head and that included a kir to start with, great value. Will be recommending to guests who stay at our French home in the summer. In the Summer you can eat outside.

Great lunchtime meal with wine for 13€ - the mushroom, potato and green bean soup was especially good

Stopped here for lunch as it made for an excellent half-way break while doing a 12 km walk from La Chapelle Pechaud across to St Laurent La Vallée and back again. We had the weekday menu du jour which was very good, starting off with a great soup. One of us was vegetarian, & as we had called ahead, Marie-Jo had prepared him a Velouté d’Asperges which went down very well. Very good value for money, and it’s so nice to walk somewhere for lunch, eat really well, and then feel as though you are walking it all off again afterwards!

This is a little gem of a place If it were a few thousand miles closer to home I would be a regular.

Walking around on a very cold late morning, we went from one promising looking restaurant to the next, to find that they were either closed for the holidays
