Visited Ganesha for dinner based on tripadvisor ratings. Will go back for the service more than for the food! It's a cosy place done up in bright orange and we were greeted by a lovely Sri Lankan couple and seated by the window. We ordered Mango lassi and being very hungry went on to order vegetable samosa, Punjabi bharta, daal, aloo methi, vegetable raita, naan and rice! The owner was kind enough to suggest that we order only one naan to begin with as he felt we had ordered quite a bit of food! We were happy to go with his suggestion. The mango lassi was perfect, not too sweet and not at all sour. The samosas could have done with a bit more filling in them but were crisp on the outside and rightly spiced on the inside. While we waited for our food we decided to order wine but the wine we wanted was available only by the bottle and we asked if it could be served by the glass. The owner was smart enough to not say no but to bring to us a lass of white wine he thought we would like and we did; so we happily went with his suggestion! The timing with which our drinks, appetizer and food were all brought to our table was just right. The food when it arrived looked great. While everything was tasty and nothing was too salty or too spicy or less spicy, the tastes were a bit diferent. The bharta did not taste like regular restaurant style or home style; the daal my friend liked but I did not. It was a mash of several daals cooked with spices like a curry but with no tadka or tempering on top which is essential for any quality daal. The naan was great, fluffy and tasty. The methi aloo was also pretty good as was the raita. All in all we enjoyed the meal but we definitely enjoyed the service the most!If you are looking for proper punjabi khana, please be careful and isn't Ganesha with the right expectations!
