Le Regain - Sault

This restaurant in the hotel offers only one menu, you have no other choice! Food was quite bad, the fish in the sauce was so dry I couldn't swallow. Service is worse. Waitress forgot our wine, I had to run after her in the restaurant...to remind her. When I asked her ingredients in a dish, she didn't know, she said she would ask and come back to us but never came back! Owner and the cook walked around and never asked if everyhing is okay or if we liked the food. Breakfast was much better than dinner and waiter was more professional.

Had it been 4 stars the food was excellent on the 4 nights we went and they had a good wine selection. But the waiter we had for dinner every night was so bad we thought he was a parody he must be... must be the owner son there is no way this person stop a real job could.

We stayed for two nights at the Hostellerie de Sault May 2012. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff made very effort to accommodate us. The chef/patron who also developed the whole site talked to us and we and our XKs were...made most welcome.

This dining experience was one of the best we had while in france on several levels.  First, the location was peaceful and beautiful in the garden,  they even provided a blanket for those who got cold in the later evening.  The food was very creative...and delicious and included an amuse busch, first and second courses, a cheese course, and desert followed by champagne!  We also ordered a bottle of wine.  I was surprised that the cost was no more than what we might pay for a 2-3 course dinner with wine back home.  The service was friendly and helpful.  Our server seemed to be fairly young and was still learning, but was very professional and helpful especially when we asked him if he could translate or describe some of the items in english when we were unfamiliar.  Finally, when we inquired about a taxi back to town since we had walked to the restaurant from the center of Sault and didn't want to walk back in the dark, the chef  drove us back himself.  This gesture completely blew us away!

the room is beautiful. the weather was very windy and we stayed only one night, so we couldn't appreciate the whole side. the breakfast was very good.

a fabulous location and a fabulous stay. the real ding was as good as the advertising that rarely occurs in these days. we would recommend hostellerie du val de sault for a stay in this beautiful opposite.

beautiful enough location, pleasant staff, but there are a few problems. one, there are automatic lighter on the door that will come when moving in bed, flooding the whole room with light. we hardly slept, it was terrible! the wooden shower floor is disgusting and the toilet was not clean. the beds are very hard and the thick comfort was so stiff, everything you could do was sleep on top. the breakfast was otherwise very good, the rooms (especially the automatic light) made our stay less than pleasant.

unfortunate place, terrible service. had a suite on the top floor was the bathroom/sitting area, glass and no window trims, worldering, stifling, many insects and no screens. no a/c. nowhere comfortable to sit, just a few cheap rattan furniture. 50 euro deposit to use the room safe. terrible shower-must handle and shower a hand. then broke. the coffee machine broke 2 different possibilities - never got a coffee in the room. uncomfortable bed and no screens down in the bedroom, in the ground floor. stupid design from above - usually a bathroom, but without window trims, no blind, nothing. no private sphere and backwarm after midday to sunset. when I mentioned it to the staff on the way out, they said I had given up the heat, and that's why the room was so hot. when I checked in, the room had many insects, both alive and dead, so that the opening of the windows for a brise did not happen, and no A/C. they want a deposit of 50 euro to use the room safe. we paid 269 19 euro, as we booked lately. it's supposed to be a 4-star hotel. I wanted to write two or three stars until these two things have happened: 1 my toilet broke and they just shut off the water. I couldn't wash the last 24 hours. I mentioned it to them when we were gone and they said I hadn't told them early enough! I told them when we went to dinner. the housekeeper had shut down because he was broken and ran two days before. that was another toilet in the bedroom, but it was made for a very large person. this hotel was $350/night 2 on the last morning we went to the breakfast and there was a large Chinese travel group separate buffets. you eat raw fresh, but we were chased away. we were served the same fruits they had served all week and it smelled rancid. no one filled the orange juice machine and I had to fuck it for coffee milk. I didn't try anything else except the croissants who were good every day. After we got our bread and sat outside, they turned off the lights in our buffet room. I had no toilet and we were served rotten eating. we felt unwilling and disdained, and we started happy and good. I personally would rather sleep on a parking bench and wash in the well.
