It is less and less easy to find places which combine both a good atmosphere and a tasty menu.Les Poissons Rouges is one of those places in st Trojan/Ile D'Oleron. There you will feel like a local fisherman with the decor of the place with a perfectly mastered menu. Try la seiche or la sole meuniere.Desserts are also truly tasty.So one of the few places which really deserves a visit.
We couldnt get in this restaurant the first tried so booked for the following night. We had the 32 euro menu and really enjoyed it.I had oysters then merlu then a caramel dessert and it was really delicious. One of the nicest meals we have had on this island. The young waitress really tried hard to explain everything to us and we would definetly return
Recommended by locals, at last a Restaurant in a touristy area that is not just destined to serve fast food to tourists in a rush. Good quality food and great service. Highly recommended!
Odd title, so...It came highly recommended from the campsites and people we met. Indeed it was, we were lucky to get the last table. The food was good, not great. What let it down, was that the waitresses were rushed off their feet, which gave a uncomfortable feeling whilst eating. There appeared to be only two serving all the tables. It sort of showed in that it took two hours plus to eat three courses. Food wise? Oysters lovely, sardines a bit over cooked, desert ok. Cost for two plus wine was circa 90 euros.
Came here after it was recommended to us by a family friend and was not disappointed. Good was presented well and was reasonable for the standard. Not a big choice for those that don't like fish. Not as much choice of seafood as I thought there would be. Would recommend for a special dinner not somewhere to go often.
Just as we remember it. We visited back in 2012 and couldn't wait to return. Lovely food and wine. The salted caramel ice cream desert is a must
We felt this place was not everything it is made out to be in previous reviews that we had read. The fish dish we chose was really quite bland, and quite pricey. The ambience was OK, and depending on the temperature, and state of the sun, one has various options for eating in, outs the front by the water edge, or on a deck, or outside at the back.
This is really a delightful place and everything you want in a restaurant. The service is great, with friendly staff, the food is delicious and the location is lovely - with great outdoor space in front and back, with both aspects looking out over water. The space inside is also very nice. I had the merlu (hake) which was really terrific. The food is the perfect marriage of traditional French and modern cooking - the pictures with the reviews here say it all. Definitely worth going to if you are near St Trojan les Bains.
