The restaurant was recommended by my nephew who is spending the winter season in Saint-Martin. We dropped in at about 20:30 without a reservation, and were lucky to get a table. The small restaurant, situated in a historic old house tucked behind the church, is decked out with a genuine alpine decor. The menu basically offers local style cuisine, a good selection of appetizers, a varied offering of meat dishes, a few seafood choices, some Savoyard cheese specialties, raclette and fondues. Not to mention an excellent wine list and some tempting desserts, although we did not get that far! Neither of us are vegetarian, but a vegetarian would definitely find something to their taste, although a vegan may struggle! We chose the Braised Lamb Shank (Souris d'Agneau), and the grilled duck breast with myrtles (Magret de Canard). The lamb was excellent, and the sauce outstanding. The duck was a bit tough - maybe an old canard? - and under seasoned for my taste. However, it was cooked exactly to the doneness requested. The blueberry sauce was appropriate, but would have been better with more sauce and less berries. However, very acceptable! The service was welcoming, friendly and super efficient. With a bottle of very nice Languedoc, about Euro 65 for two, including a voluntary but very well earned tip. Highly recommended.
