First visited restaurant during midi in 2010 where we were seated outside and saw the sun setting. I had fish for the main course my husband had steak omg so good.The meal was very reasonably priced and the whole experience was unforgettable. we returned in june2017 and thought we'd go there again hoping it would be as good as our first time.... we were not disappointed. Great value for money with more than enough delicious food . Good house wine and a lovely atmosphere. The fries are the best ever. Although we didn't get the sunset this time round as we sat inside due to the weather the food, wine and ambience were just as good as ever.
Wow what a wonderful experience, make sure you are hungry when you get there as they love to feed you. Don't leave anything on your plate or the lovely waitress will put it back and tell politely of course to eat it, one of the many highlights of the evening.Food is great home cooked style and very traditional. Look forward to going again. Hosts were very attentive with no need to ask for refills of bread (delicious) and water.
Our 3rd visit . Don't go here looking for posh, posy or expensive food . this is a superb, very very popular (with French and foreigners) quiet bastide town restaurant serving delicious home-made food at great prices. Just returned from a four course lunch for 18 euros ( drinks included). Brilliant , very friendly service, great atmosphere and in good weather (thundery today !!) a wonderful small outside terrace overlooking the valley below.
A family favourite! A varied menu, both fixed price and a la carte. In warm summer months book ahead and dine outside on their balcony with stunning views across the valley.
Wonderful local restaurant in the market place of beauville. Don't be fooled by the 1950s decor. The food was delicious, local produce and plentiful. Have the menu de jour every time. The madam in charge was charming and helpful.
We went twice over 4 days. A couple of menus in the evening and a la carte. Back for Sunday lunch when there was no a la carte but more menus. I had the €30 menu as I wanted turbot in sorrel sauce. As other reviewers have said, a light soup first followed by a very large and delicious mixed hors d'oeuvre, then fish, then confit de canard, then cheese and a lovely prune ice cream sundae. A huge amount if food, couldn't eat for the rest of the day despite walking 4kms there and 4kms back to our Chambre d'hote. My husband had the €15 menu, smaller but also delicious. All great value. Would definitely recommend. Sitting on the terrace is nice but, if you don't like wasps, you might be better off indoors.
We went to the Midi for Sunday lunch and had the top price menu at 30€. It was excellent: soup, hors d'oeuvres which included king prawns, home-made pate, delicious local melon etc all in large quantities. Next course we had turbot, then the main course, followed by cheese and salad, and then pudding (we had the speciality prune ice cream with prunes soaked in armagnac. So much food and all delicious. The whole soup tureen is placed on the table for you to help yourself, as is the cheeseboard. Chantal the owner is very friendly. We went several times during our holiday and had great meals every time. The view from the terrace is stunning. NB this restaurant is in the main square of Beauville, not Saint Martin. Kids meals are steak hachee and chips (they get the melon and cold meats too) and ice cream. Wines by the pitcher are good value but you can also buy bottles of wine. Try the aperitif of prunes! Normal menus start at 15€ for 4 courses. Thoroughly recommended.
4 courses for €15 has to be a meal that sacrifices quality for the sake of profit but not at this place. Starter is a thin soul followed by an entree of mixed meats and salad. The pate was rich and smooth, shedded beatroot delicately flavoured plus slabs of rustic french bread. Main course was a veal stew with olives that was simply fabulous. Dessert offerings included a chocolate tart and ice cream. Great value. On warm nights the view from the terrace is breathtaking.
