I have to review this place again. Each time I come, in a couple or as a family with tiny children, the welcome is friendly and the food is tasty. Super. Don't miss it. A wonderfully relaxed place.

A concise menu with super variety of dishes. Civet de Sanglier the perfect dish for a chilly February lunch, and the galettes light and delicious. Very friendly and accommodating staff and pets! Warm and welcoming inside and relaxed outside on the terrace. Worth a detour.

Beautiful shady terrace in a quiet spot not far from Peyrepertuse. A very friendly (and child friendly) welcome and good honest food - the 'menu' was good value and of far better quality than experienced elsewhere on our holiday at this price point. We visited in summer 2013 - the place was memorable enough to prompt me to post this review over a year later when I happened across a photo. Lovely, had to drag ourselves away for the castle!

We were in rented accommodation for a week which just happened to be right next door to Les Trois Cathares. Having gone in one evening for the aperitif and been warmly welcomed we thought we'd eat there the following day. It was excellent, so good in fact that we went there twice more for dinner. On the fixed price menu there are always two starters (sometimes three) and the same for the main course - civet de sanglier was always one of the dishes - and there is a choice of four desserts. We found the food very fresh, great flavours and always served by such interesting people! No complaints about the bill either: 13 Euros (yes, that's not a typo) gets you a starter plus main, or main plus dessert, 25cl wine per person or a coffee - absolutely stunning value. If you do select the civet, then the price increases to 18 Euros. The ambience is magical, you feel that like Alice, you've stepped into Wonderland! They also play great music and have live music at least twice a week.If you're ever travelling the "Route des Cathares", do stop at Les Trois Cathares. It's a great shame it's such a long way from London.

We had a relaxing and enjoyable simple lunch here, excellent value and some of the best frites we've had in France. The outside seating is colourful in the dappled sunlight, the staff welcoming and helpful.

We arrived to a quite vibrant and interesting restaurant. Very arty and eclectic interior. Definitely a local artisan feel to the place. That's pretty much where the enjoyment ended. We ordered food, mains for myself and my wife (the waitress recommended the set menu for my wife as we asked for veggie). She mentioned fish as a dish and we thought that was better so we assumed we ordered this. Unfortunately confusion reigned and my wife was presented with a stuffed tomato with some cooked veggies inside as her main course. This obviously resulted in a hungry and upset wife. The dish was inedible. My main course was ok, nothing special. The steak was ok, a bit gamey. Chips were nice though :) our kids cheese galette was untouched by the kids, who were very hungry and eat anything in that state.Whilst the waitress was aware there had been a confusion and saw my wife visibly upset and not touching her food, nothing was offered to rectify the situation, just empty apologies. The creme anglais was however very nice, once the undercooked meringue was removed.Personal recommendation? Drive on to Soutage ....

On first appearance this is a hip fun place to be, colourful and well appointed. In reality it is a big disappointment......the restaurant looks nice but the food is awful, there is no proper 'chef' or 'cook' but an array of people without any training or natural ability cook each night. For vegetarians they only ever give a boring omelette, steaks are generally tough and very overcooked but the menu leaves a lot to be desired...its just a glorified snack i.e. ma's and pa's but not as good. they are un able to offer anything for vegans, gluten free or people with any slight dietary restrictions.....even a plain green salad is a challenge with greasy chips being a vegetable! However they do have a trained pastry chef who makes deserts, sweets, chocolates and pastries to die for....delicious.The bar is pleasant with not much going on but they seem to serve alcohol without a care to the individuals requesting it!! so often a lot of drunks which is not pleasant. The hostel /bunks are quite cleverly built, comfortable but the loo/showers are difficult to manage so if handicapped in any way or with small children this could be a problem. The outdoor seating is very nicely done. Be warned not to get involved with the staff/owner as they are not all they seem and do talk about their customers out of turn, disclosing information they shouldn't and could turn violent/ aggressive on you. Its in a lovely small village in a lovely location. Good parking. I wouldn't say avoid it but tread carefully. we have not personally stayed there but had friends who did but we have had dinner a good few times, lunch , coffees/teas and pastries, chocolates etc, we have gone with friends, family as a couple, solo and on business....from experience do check your bill is correct!! We will not be patronising this place again! .....if a cheapish overnighter with grub you are not concerned about it could be the place for you but if you want decent grub, respect and a pleasant night out skip it.

Amazing Moroccan experience! Make sure to make a reservation just in case! Smells of incense and food.
