We visited Terre Gourmande for lunch on a sunny April Saturday. The restaurant was busy but we were given a table on the terrace, shaded by Wisteria. The restaurant is Bistro type with paper table covers and napkins. Our starters were a chiffonade o fham and a salad of warm goat’s cheese and ham and both were very good in taste and quantity. Our main dishes were faux filet of beef and lamb cutlets, both being served with green salad, ratatouille and chips. The taste and cooking of the dishes were excellent, the chips being clearly prepared on the premises, crisp, well-seasoned and not greasy. The faux filet was a little untidy- it could have been better trimmed and as the quantity was large the reduction in size would not have mattered. The restaurant uses locally sourced ingredients for most dishes. With these first two courses we drank a carafe of acceptable Cahors.Dessert – a simple ice cream, but excellent. We had coffee, good in flavour and strong, but unfortunately it was brought at the same time as the dessert and was only luke-warm when drunk.I would like to give the restaurant an additional half-star – I’d really like a seven star grading system.Terre Gourmande has a shop on the premises selling local produce, vegetables and fruit, dairy products and preserves, and fresh meat. They have a good selection of wines and here they include other regions too.
