Les Jardins d'Eole - Port-Sainte-Foy-et-Ponchapt

Excellent chef, les plats sont toujours bien présentés et alléchants. Vraiment une cuisine raffinée. Le seul problème est que le service est très long, alors préparez-vous à attendre, cela en vaut la peine.

Expérience culinaire merveilleuse et spectaculaire! Je ne voulais pas que cette expérience se termine un jour. J'ai hâte de revenir lors de ma prochaine visite en Dordogne !

This is the second time that we've partaken of lunch at Les Jardins d'Eole and it was every bit as good as the first. None of us chose to go with any of the prix-fixe menus, preferring not to eat quite so much, even though we weren't planning on supper. Unfortunately (for readers) those who were having starters and main courses chose the same meals: a French take on Spanikopita (sic) followed by magret de canard. Both were excellent. The third member of the party chose to have just the meat of the day (entrecote). This too was very good. Presentation was pleasing to the eye.We left sated and content. We will definitely return.Our only observation is that with an empty restaurant and terrace it seemed unnecessary to seat the only other party at a table adjacent to ours, but we enjoyed the eavesdropping and the view of the enormous bruschetta one of them had for an appetiser before we left - it looked to be every bit as good as ours.The oddity of Les Jardins d'Eole is that they are only open by reservation, so don't think that you can just roll up and find lunch (or dinner) available - you may go hungry! However, they seem happy to open for just two, so make the call.

This restaurant, despite giving its address as Ste Foy la Grande and being found thus located on TA, is actually across the river at Port Sainte Foy-et-Ponchapt and is located on the Fougueyrolles Aerodrome. It is on the mezzanine floor of a building and has a view over an untidy car-park. The interior appears pleasant enough but has no character. We arrived, without a reservation,at 19:30 hours on a Friday evening. The high recommendation it gets on TA prompted our visit. Three people were at a table at the far end of the restaurant. Madame la proprietaire introduced herself, enquired if we had a reservation (she knew, of course, that we did not) and then advised us that without a reservation we could not have a meal. We dined out elsewhere in the area and called back past this restaurant (since we are living in the area) at 21:30 just to check that perhaps it was full with those who had reservations. The same three people and no others could be seen in the restaurant. Very odd for a restaurant that appears to be able to seat 30 comfortably.
