Le Trinquet - Oloron-Sainte-Marie

Went here last night as Les Anges was fully booked and they suggested Le Trinquet!!! (Thanks!) We wanted to sit outside but were told all tables were reserved (they remained vacant until we left, whilst we sat in the conservatory area). We ordered three children's steak hache and asked if we could have burger buns with them, this caused great confusion and were nearly given three full sized burgers! I ordered the gambas which was truly awful, my husband did say we are far from the coast but this town has a poisonerie, had to remove prawn intestine from each one, most unpleasant and in the end gave up. My husband's steak bernaise was the only saving grace of an otherwise truly awful meal. We will never go here again!

Lovely restaurant! Fab choice of food, recommend the burger bernaise and salmon. Good selection of drinks, very reasonable price. Lovely to sit outside in warmer weather. We have been coming here for years, and never had any problem! One recommendation if you like your meat well done - make sure to ask!

From the outstanding, local "duck" burger to the wonderful smooth chocolate fondant, Le Trinquet offers tasty meals and excellent wines for (very) reasonable prices.

Was in town found a restaurant and had one of my best meals in a great place well recommened you look this place up if you are in this part or france

I am so sad to write this bad review as I have been there multiple times and I used to love it!I wasn't aware that there had been an ownership change before entering.When we first got inside, the waiter seemed a bit annoyed, no smile no welcome. He quickly sits us at a table at the back and gives us the menu.We quickly decide what we want but this same waiter (only him around) doesn't seem bothered to come back to take our order.. Too busy cleaning glasses, plates etc..Our order is finally taken (still with no smile)..We go for 2 menus at 25 euros each. We had the Garbure to start with which wasn't very good but just ok.And now the mains... My boyfriend went for the fillet steak (at 4euros extra) and I went for the duck magret.My dish was very average with the duck being very overcooked, the apple sauce far too sweet, and the green beans absolutely stale and tasteless..Now the fillet steak of my boyfriend.. It tasted funny and upon cutting into it, it completely fell apart into 3 pieces, of which 2 very unappetizing big balls..We notified the waiter as soon as it happened and we finally were able to catch his attention. He arrived, took the plate and literally said: "there is nothing wrong with my meat, I know for a fact that it tastes fine" to then walk away...My friend and I weren't sure whether to walk out at that point... He then came back 10min later saying that the chef looked at it and that it was absolutely fine. It was the heart of the beef?!?!?!? Really???? This is not the first time we have a fillet steak and I have never seen anything of the sort!!!! The smell, the taste, the look, the falling apart! This is meant to be one of the leanest cut!Again, the very arrogant attitude of the waiter claiming we were wrong and NOT once apologising was appalling!We started getting very upset by the tone he was talking down to us by then... He walked away AGAIN and came back about 15min later with FINALLY some apologies!It was unfortunately too late by then and the mood and our appetite was COMPLETELY spoiled by such a SHOCKING attitude.They took one menu out of the bill and we walked away with a ruined evening.I will never ever step into this restaurant again and will never recommend it to anyone!See Picture of their so called "fantastic quality" fillet steak.....

Over the Christmas holidays we ate here twice and on both occasions had good service and a very nice menu. The set menu was well balanced and the staff were helpful, substituting local charcuterie for the tuna in the salad when informed that one of our party did not eat fish. Ample free parking nearby, the restaurant seemed to be frequented by regulars from neighbouring offices and places of work. Nice atmosphere for a relaxed lunch in Oloron.

We ate here twice, the second time because most of Oloron was closed on the last Wednesday night of September.First time we ate there we had the Autumn Menu - my husband ordered the faux fillet au point (and instead of medium/rare it was cold and fairly raw), my fish was well cooked and everything else was lovely. The service was not very welcoming and something in that area was missing - a friendliness maybeThe second time we went we were not able to sit outside - it was still warm for us, but obviously too cold for the French! We also went from the main menu, and it was slightly more expensive than other places, but the food was very good and tasty and plenty of it (apart from the Jambon starter which still had the inedible rind on it)Would go there again, but would not be first choice if free choice!
