I have read about the positiv reviews about this restaurant so I planned to dine here on the first evening of our boat trip with another family. Unfortunately on that Friday evening, the whole restaurant is booked for a wedding. So we were forced to go to another restaurant near the river bank which was overpriced. I made a reservation for our return trip per Email and got a confirmation the next day. After a week on the canal we were back in Niderviller. It took about 10 minutes walk from the river bank to Restaurant M but it was totally worth the time. The restaurant is very stylish decorated and nicely illuminated. The server spoke a little bit German so he explained patiently what the menus (24€ for 3 courses) were to us so we quickly decided for the menu. However the server quickly came back and informed us that the 24€ menu is only for Christmas season, which is written on the flyer but we didn't notice it. So we ended up ordering main dishes and desserts. We had coast augus beef from Ireland, suggest of the chef cook - deer steak with forrest fruit puree and children's menu (french fries with fried chicken). The beef steak was perfectly grilled, the portion was more than enough but it was so delicious and tender that the 2 men devoured it in 5 minutes. We had beef steaks in another restaurant just a week ago and they were of bad quality, not to mentioned they costed 19€. Compared to the bad restaurant, the price here is a bargain. The side dishes and sauces were also outstanding. They simply tasted different and better than other restaurants we tried during our boat trip in France. Another surprise was the starter from the chef cook. I don't remember the name but the mushroom soup was simply exquisite. The desserts were great too. The kids claimed that the ice creams were the best of the whole trip. Mine has some unique combination of berry and sweet chestnuts. The presentation, the creative combination of ingredients, the smell and the taste were perfect. Only 3 things might need some improvements: 1. the children's menu has no vegetables or salad at all. 2. The plates would be pre-warm. 3. Since there are a lot of German tourists, it would be helpful to have a German menu. All in all if you are near Nideviller make sure you drop by this restaurant. I wish I could try everything on the menu.
