Moutarde & Wasabi - Montpellier

It's great that we're starting to see more and more competition for Japanese cuisine in Montpellier and Moutarde & Wasabi doesn't disappoint for their take on Sushi. I had the Miso soup to start and one of the trays with 14 assorted pieces of sushi and rolls and it was fantastic. My only complaint is that the portions they give are really small, and we left the restaurant feeling hungry. If they improved their serving sizes they could easily have 5 stars!

We were really pleased with the service and choice here. There are lots of options for meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans, gluten/lactose free, all clearly marked on the menu. The price is reasonable too. The restaurant is in a little square with outdoor seating under the trees which was very quaint. Food and experience was good, we would recommend it!

Most people know that eating out isn't just about the food but the overall experience. From booking our table at Moutarde & Wasabi (by using the Fork) to leaving the restaurant a few nights later, everything went very well, including the welcoming people working there, the lovely food served by a very pleasant and helpful waitress, the simple decor and the quiet atmosphere all combined to give a wonderful evening. If we ever go back we would definitely want the crab avocado and amai sauce wrapped in mint leaves again. You can find it on the menu under the heading Primtemps (Spring) However, we probably wouldn't have another dish of mixed fish Chirashi, but only because it's too much rice to eat. The prices of everything we had, including the wine, were very reasonable. Thank you everyone at team Moutarde & Wasabi.

Very friendly staff and service indeed. We had good fun and enjoyed the young people who run this restaurant. It is a nice setting and pleasant and clean. Sorry to say but as passionate Sushi eaters we were not impressed by the food. It is basically far to simple and to average to hit us. O.K. the ingredients were fresh and alright, but the rice is not on the level it should be (taste wise) and the rest is very basic. We also missed choices of fish, and that is a pity. Young people can learn and improve so we wish the team all the best and encourage them to ramp up a little bit their quality.

I went there two times. The first one I tried their marinated Chirashi and the other day I took many different kind of maki. They make some with beef/gorgonzola/nuts and the one with fried chicken/curry pheeew pwetty good ;bEnded with 2 shots of Kraken, nice rum !

A small but very attractive menu, in a sober decorated place. The main cuisine is Japanese , where you can find makis, nigiris, soups and other cold bar specialties. An important point, the price vs quality ratio is very good.

We found this restaurant through the fork and enjoyed a super dinner there! The service is excellent and the fish has a good quality!

Nice, clean atmosphere. Very calm & modern with music though. I had a plate of sushi with a miso soup & kiwi juice! Refreshing & satisfying.
