I won a voucher to visit this Resturant at a local event. I wasn't disappointed, the lunch menu was excellent and house wine was good. I can highly recommend this eatery!
Arrived in Montbron on a quiet midweek night. Went for a drink to l'Europe before trying to find somewhere to have dinner. Saw the menu here and decided to try it out. It was a good decision - 4 of us had the 2 course...More
Had menu de jour for lunch, first visit since new owner, were not disappointed. Same chef so still a great meal. Friendly staff, good service and great value, we had aperos, a carafe of wine and 3 courses with cafe for 34 euros. Will come again
Lunch is the norm in France so lunch it was, full restaurant, service a bit slow but nobody worrys about that, (we are in France) good menu, all fresh, salads first class, fresh, all at reasonable prices, I had Tartine very good choice, not seen on a lot of menu's, all in all a great lunch.
We ate here on the evening of the annual night market - the first weekend in August. The atmosphere throughout the whole town on this very special evening is wonderful, and this restaurant certainly helps in making it so good. Normally the service is as you would expect in a restaurant - waiter service at the table - but on this fun evening diners are required to buy a ticket and stand in a queue waiting for the set meal of steak, chips and salad to be prepared by a pop up outdoor kitchen. We have returned to the restaurant since our August visit, and the food a service is very good, but I would definitely recommend a visit on the Friday of the first August weekend. You will not be disappointed by the town or the restaurant.
New proprietor/chef produces a very good meal for very reasonable prices. My wife and I had steak/frites. Steak was perfectly cooked and tender; the frites were home cooked and tasty. Good cheeseboard to finish plus 50cl of house wine for under 30euros.
Popular with locals but friendly to strangers, we had the set menu of the day at 12.50 Euros and it was very tasty and good value for money. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Would eat there again.
My wife and I had lunch of the set menu. Pate to start followed by Roast Duck. As my wife does not eat potatoes only as chips They were happy to change the roast potatoes for chips. To follow she had a chocolate cake and I had a strawberry compote.Excellent value for money and really good food and service.
