La Cantine - Mende

Arnaud was a fantastic host for our group of hungry cyclists. The food was magnificent and very well described by Arnaud. Nothing was too much trouble. Organic food and wine - definitely worth a visit.

At 5:45PM I went to restaurant and met Arnaud, the maitre'd and head chef and asked if he could accommodate 18 for dinner that night. Arnaud was reluctant initially but then agreed. From 7:30PM we were treated royally with great food, organic and wholesome, and organic local wine. Allergies were catered for too without obvious difficulty: one coeliac and one fructose. Everyone found meal amazingly tasteful. Well worth a visit. Arnaud has a low key style but ensures everyone has what they need.

We had a really good dinner here as part of our cycle tour. Friendly and welcoming the experience is different with a set menu and no choice. Food was very good though. Maybe not for everyone. Very popular so you must book.

In 6 days in Mende we went twice.There is so many great things about this place: friendly, relaxed and caring staff; fresh, local food, they know the people who produced the meat, cheese, wine they serve. The dishes are simple, delicious, the vegetarian option was perfect ( not always easy to find vegetarian dishes in this area!)Highly recommended!

A wonderful little restaurant near the catherdral, La Cantine, was more than we expected. Be sure to make a reservation. We chose a three course menu of beautifully prepared local and organic produce. Each dish was elegant in presentation with an option for vegetarian. French cuisine at its finest. You will not be disappointed and I would go as far as to say our best meal in France to date. Arnaud, Owner and waiter, explains the menu in English and made us feel very welcome. To top the night off Rhubarb tart and home made ice cream for desert and a great coffee.

excellent service de notre serveur qui a expliqué le menu dans un anglais parfait et a donné des recommandations. la nourriture était excellente et copieuse également. le meilleur repas de notre circuit de 10 jours à travers la France

nous étions à Mende pour une nuit et avons dîné ici. absolument fabuleux! le tout avec des ingrédients biologiques cultivés localement et le restaurant est évidemment guidé par des gens qui aiment ce qu'ils font ! (le choix du menu est assez limité, mais ne quittez pas le service) était un peu lent, mais cela ne m'empêcherait pas d'y retourner.
