Hard to know where to begin... Le Marmiton is a totally authentic table paysanne - food served on the farm, from the farm, by the farmers. They serve only a fixed menu, not a la carte, but the food is sensational - wonderful tourain (garlic soup), superb magret and confit of duck, excellent salade de gisiers (maybe not to everyone's taste), with aperitif, wine, digestif and coffee included for a ridiculously low price. The service is impeccable and super-friendly (thanks to the lovely waitress, Muriel). "Monsieur" - the owner - may be a bit disconcerting for some people, but we found him incredibly entertaining. He stopped the meal at one point so we could go outside and help him feed a baguette to one of the cows, then came back and did the round of the tables telling risqué jokes (though fortunately for most people his accent is so thick that they'd be hard to understand). He finished up by pouring us a complimentary plum brandy made by one of the other local farmers. An amazing experience, not to be missed.
