Le Canton - Longre

Parfait .. de la nourriture joliment cuisinée à l'humour sec de Didier, le propriétaire .. et le fait qu'ils nous ont laissé amener nos chiens .. et nous n'avons payé que 85 € pour nous six !

Je suis allé plusieurs fois dans ce restaurant, le soir et le midi, je n'ai jamais été déçu, la nourriture est toujours de grande qualité et le rapport qualité/prix est bon. L'ambiance est calme, agréable et cosy. L'hôte est très poli et a le sens de l'humour lorsqu'il apprend à vous connaître.

Fantastic food - there is nothing on the menu that I would not recommend, great location. The staff are very friendly, fun and charming.

Visiting the region we had lunch with friends who recommended Le Canton.Cool reception ,out of a box deep fried starter and an OK main, left us as the paying host slightly deflated.Go through Aigre to Ville Jesus and try La Cagouille next to the church...a much more satisfying experience!

Sadly our French is not too great and given this restaurant is situated in a small village the waiter didn't speak any English either, so trying to understand each other was difficult. It all became a bit frustrating but thankfully an English speaking lady on a table next to us helped interpret what we wanted and when it finally arrived after an extended wait we enjoyed our meal. The chicken in tarragon sauce was splendid. The kids enjoyed their plat du jour of chilli con carne too.

Determined to fit Le Canton in for my 'foodie" Son and daughter-in law, we found the pace

wonderful atmosphere and a great welcome. host does not have much english but I don't have much french , did not stop us having a great meal and conversation. was so good after our first visit on a tuesday night [when all the local ex-pats converge on the place, they made us very welcome and we joined another two couples ] we went back on our last night in the area

This is a very friendly, warm bistro with a menu which will suit everyone. It is also very reasonably priced. We aim to visit once a month and on birthdays.
