Lilleau - Les Portes-en-Ré

I'll start with the positives: the restaurant and garden at the back are nice and relaxed. That's about it. Service was non-existent: other tables got served first, the waitress seemed dazed, the waiter was pleasant when he remembered we existed. We waited 45+ mins at lunchtime for 2 burgers and a salad/tartine. When it eventually arrived, the food was mediocre, the tartine was soggy, the frites were dripping with oil, one of the burgers was raw (not 'saignant', but simply uncooked). The waiter was kind enough to strike it off our bill but still, it's a pricey affair for a poor experience. Avoid.

Not a lot for veggies but the Bridget were good and it ended up being an ideal place for us with out two little boys who could be loud and roam in the nice garden area.Would definitely recommend for families.Didn't try the wine but looks to be a specialty of theirs.

Great hamburgers, really really delicious ! Friendly service, family oriented, lovely setting in an internal courtyard. In a nutshell I highly recommend this place ! We would return.

We stumbled across this hidden courtyard after stopping for a drink outside. The menu was just what we were looking for after a long cycle and there was something for both adults and children. The home made burgers were absolutely fab as was the welcome on arrival. Great stop for lunch. Would definitely return again.

After a full day of cycling and sightseeing, all we wanted was a sit-down and something simple, tasty and filling....a burger and some chips! The food was as good as the welcome, the chips were perfect and the different burgers went down a treat. A nice atmosphere, a great welcome from the owner and the interior and courtyard were lovely. Hope to be back.

This is a shame - this restaurant has a nice internal courtyard and a decent looking menu , but we ate here last week and the experience was not good . We had to wait at least an hour to be served after already waiting more than we should for the staff to redress an empty table . Not one member of staff came to say sorry for the wait , or to offer a drink on the house - we had to actually point out to them we were waiting . When we were given the menus we made our selections only to be told tat what we had selected was not available at lunchtime - not told before . So more time making a second choice . When the food eventually arrived it was very average and certainly not worth the wait . When we came to pay the bill there was a perfunctory apology but no gesture of a reduction , or anything being offered not even a coffee . This place just has no idea how to treat customers and I guess is banking on the fact that most people are on holiday and unlikely to come back . Well we certainly would not .

Better overall locations close by but excellent food (we had the ribs). Lots of thing on the menu had run out. Would return.

Average plus food. I really think you should look at "les plats du jour". Very kind service by commited people. Good wines. They were very friendly with our children (even the noisiest one), other clients less ;-).
