We found the opinions too generous in relation to reality. the meal appeared too simplistic compared to the price (28 euros the menu).

looking for a restaurant in the last minute, a Sunday evening, we call this establishment because we had received a visit card a few days earlier. effective reception on the phone: if you arrive immediately, there is still room. and if we hold the dog on a leash (to not disturb the cat of the house), it can accompany us. It's nestled in the countryside that we'll find the restaurant in a corner of greenery. the friendly couple who holds the establishment pilot the master's case. from the reception (by gentleman) to the kitchen (by madam) everything is perfect. we opted for menus at €28. the value for money is excellent. The little girl took a pizza made at the minute and generous to wish. Brief, a restaurant discovered by chance where we will certainly return and with pleasure.

We booked a table on the basis of a trip advisor recommendation and weren't disappointed. The menu provided the whole family with something wonderful to eat. The children had really outstanding dry rub spare ribs (looked like they were from a bison - huge)!. We went for the set menu which started with a lovely courgette soup, then we had the local fois gras or goat's cheese salad. Mains were pork fillet mignon and hake. All were freshly prepared and tasted wonderful. Desserts were equally good - a good range available and also a nice touch was the wines of choice being available on your table as you arrived. Our hosts were friendly and relaxed and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We hope to go back before we return home.

It’s disappointing when somewhere doesn’t live up to previous high expectations. We have visited L’Abbaye in previous years when on holiday in the Dordogne region. It is a long-ish drive from where we stay but that has always previously been worth the trip for the excellent meals we have enjoyed. However, after many years the owners are ready for retirement and the restaurant is up for sale – and unfortunately this shows n the overall experience that we had.A group of four of us arrived on a warn June evening and were given a table inside – nice enough but we would have preferred to eat in the patio area as previously. But I imagine it's easier for the couple to manage tables if everyone is sitting inside. We chose the menu at 33 euros, and had two bottles of wine (not cheap at 21 euros for a bottle of Bergerac Rose). Starters were good but the main courses unsatisfactory – the salmon was overcooked and one of the steaks was good, the other one poor quality meat. We did mention this when plates were collected and the response was that the salmon “had probably been left on the heat for too long”. No apology.Desserts were fine - nothing special, but tasty enough. We will watch to see if new owners can refresh this place in years to come. It's in a lovely location.

We arrived at L'Abbaye without reservations, on a Sunday evening, after a long day at Pech-Merle and Saint-Cirq-la Popie. We were dressed as one would expect after such an outing (very informally). We were greeted warmly, chose a nice rosé Sancerre, and began a very pleasant and relaxing dinner. We enjoyed two different menus in our party; both offered an array of fine choices. My own seafood casserole and filet of beef were tasty; the peach pie dessert was also well prepared. The terrace on a very warm evening was a perfect setting. We would definitely return.

Going to eat at this glorious restaurant twice. The exterminators hans and incarcerated are two very sweet and kind people you can talk to. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The food inborg is excellent! The soup, filled pearl bout, gambas, ostrich steak with green pepper sauce, gratin of st. jacobschelp and dessert. ...everything as well. ! When we go back to gourdon, this restaurant is definitely on our "to do" list! !
