Hippopotamus - Le Chesnay

The restaurant is ok - clean, nice arrange, is offering a limited range of food but delicious (from my point of view). The prices are decent considering the location; a bit long waiting time when was crowded (Monday...???).

We had a couple of drinks in here during the day and then returned in the evening to try the food. During both visits, we found the staff to be very helpful and very courteousAnd polite. All having a good under standing of English as our French was very poor to say the least. We both had steak and found it was cooked to our taste. A very nice experience.Didn,t sample the dessert menu as too full from the main course. I also tried the cocktails and excellent value for money. A nice place to eat and drink.

Yes, I know, Hippopotamus is a chain and we are in France, where you are supposed to find much better dining experiences... but... with the kids we have been to many different places in Versailles, including some much fancier restaurants, and others less so... and what the kids consistently tell me is: it feels homy and the food is good. Actually, they are right. It feels comfortable, the staff is friendly, the food is actually good (and I say "actually" for the many snobbish people among our friends who are mocking our choice). So, especially if you are alone on business and are looking for a friendly place and a decent meal at a decent price - that is the place for you! and we will be back with the kids!

Food was ok but overpriced. The steak was cooked well but sides were cold and service was lacking though maybe this was because we were tourists. Fine for closeby the hotel but wouldn't return.

Dropped in on the recommendation of a French friend. They said this was a good place for the family to eat. They were not wrong the steak was amazing and the kids burgers were lovely real meat and not the usual rubbish. Highly recommended.

This looks like a french Applebee's. Some beef, some fries, some sandwiches. I'm giving two stars because they never have change. Tifay they didn't had 20 euros in change. Unbelievable

The place is very convenient as close to Parly 2 mall with a private parking. Staff is welcoming you nicely and you can choose your seats. Service and food are of good quality.

The staff are courteous and friendly, there is no need to book and we were shown to a table upon arrival. The food is good and there is a big range of cuts of beef. If you're a carnivore, choice is limited to a number of salads and 'fish and chips'.If you are offered a table for two, the chances are that space will be cery limited. The staff are attentive and brought some complimentary crisps and bread rolls, but there was little space left on the table for when our order arrived.If you're staying at the Mercure round the corner, this is a reliable choice, especially on a Sunday night when very few places are open in the vicinity.
