I think that technically this is called 'Aux Deux Chenes'. We have family close by and have had lunch here many times including a meal last week. This is an old fashioned classic basic French restaurant where you will get a great meal at a low cost. We always go for the three course menu with a 'pichet' of wine and are never disappointed. Don't expect anything fancy but take the chance to sit outside and enjoy a taste of how France used to be whilst you still can.
Popped in for a spot of lunch here after a bimble through the forests and along the coastal road from Biscarosse. A friendly madame greeted and seated us and we duly went à la carte. Pizza (no. 1 son) was fab - delightful tasting and crispy crust; Penne Carbonara (no. 1 daughter) was also very simply but deliciously done. No.1 wife (does that sound wrong?) went for the veal frites - a huge steak of locally sourced meat which was delicious and I opted for humble - yet darn tasty - moules au crème with the ubiquitous and equally munchable chips. The menu du jour offers a better selection and value - sadly, just not for my bunch!! Would happily recommend this place - it was full and made up of all sorts; elderly couples, young families, groups of friends etc and many appeared to be local which is always a good sign.
The food was good but the service could have been better. We went with a strict vegan who had a heck of a time finding something to eat, the staff didn't seem to be too willing to change things for accommodate the vegan. If you order the steak from the kids menu be sure to ask for it well done, otherwise it will come out medium-rare at best. They also forgot to bring out one of our desserts and the waitress was no where to be found. However they did accommodate our group of 9.
This restaurant is better than many of the other restaurants in the area, The lady who owns it is very nice and ensures the front of house is well run. It offers a good range of wines and meals based on local ingredients.
Nice seating protected against the sun by trees. A selection of regional dishes, meat and fish. Daily menu at low price. Food was good but no more. Friendly but rather chaotic service.
I went there two weeks ago because the deco is nice and the waiters looked nice too.I had fried calamari with french fries.For ten euros I got 7 calamari and 4 euros more for the french fries, in a half filled cup, so I asked to put some more as the calamari dish was already so poor.But the waiters were quite nice and the location is perfect.But if I go back there, I won't go anymore.
We had lunch at this little gem today, having found it last spring. At 12€ for two courses, for which there is a choice of 3 daily specials each, this is excellent value. Food is freshly cooked, served with a smile and the carafe wine is pretty good too. This place is always busy - the best recommendation a place can have. Frill free French cuisine doesn't come much better.
A great option to have lunch or dinner in a lovely garden, service was super kind, the day menu for 12 euros is really unrivaled, Quality of mains was good and desserts really nice. We were a group of 8 and tried meat, fish and chicken as well as pizza and we all liked!
