Chinese, Thai, Greek, Turkish, Southern Italian immigrants have often opened little restaurants in their adopted countries. With their hard work and passion, we are all the better for it. From the tempting window display of Italy's finest food products to the truly warm welcome inside, this Southern Italian family are great Ambassadors for their homeland. The menu is short, but everything is well prepared. There is a small, but quality selection of Italian wines. Trattorias aren't meant to be fancy. Serving the town-and not just tourists, their Italian dishes remind you of that country's culinary prowess. Their versions are very good, but not excellent. Perhaps the local produce and products aren't quite up to what you find in the old country. We have spent too much time in Italy (both North and South) to be fully satisfied. It's a cozy and nicely decorated little place on a tiny vico around the corner from the harbor. More representative (to us) of what we find in the North End of Boston or the South End of Springfield than the "old country", we still appreciate their efforts. The cooking is casalinga, perhaps in a pre-1970s time warp. It provides fair value and is a nice alternative to the local French repertoire.
