Run by an English chef and his French wife, this small restaurant on the quayside offers a taste of England, but with the trimmings of a French bistro. There are alternatives to the Fish & Chips, but this is what it is all about, with a 3 course menu. No paper wrappers, the dishes are nicely arranged with a too-small portion of mushy peas, perfectly cooked fish in batter and a neat pile of chunky chips. The desserts are very good, and included crumble on our visit, but I had a very good crème brulée. Drinks were reasonably priced, both soft and alcoholic. The decor is light blue, French Café, and they have avoided a fake English chippy theme that would not have made much sense to non-English visitors. The local English community eat here for a reasonably priced (by French bistro standards) lunch or supper. It is a small restaurant, with the tables quite close together, so booking is recommended for the evenings.
