Renaissance - Falaise

Two menus, local dishes, friendly staff and warm welcome. Lots of regulars, drinks on a Saturday sees it full. Not to be missed.

The staff were welcoming right from when we walked in, with friendly smiling service, they forgave our attempts at speaking French - and a 'Fruits aux Crumble' to die for

Sat outside on a dry day. Staff were lovely. Enjoyed a nice beer and simple lunch. We chose a salad of the day and roast chicken. Both were pleasant.

During a battlefield coach tour we stopped in Falaise where we were 'let loose' to find some lunch. About twenty of us descended on the La Renaissance Restaurant - an easily located spot on a corner opposite the cathedral. They took the invasion in their stride and proceeded to host us with superb professionalism and courtesy. The manager (owner?) was a colourful character with a great sense of humour, shared by his staff - it helped to make the whole experience a pleasure. They offered a good, varied menu and the food arrived quickly - they must know that most organised tours have a limited time to eat and get back on the road. My meal was simple and enjoyable, accompanied by an agreeable house red. I'd recommend this establishment to anyone visiting the area.

Falaise is well placed for lunch before driving to Ouistreham for the 4.30 ferry. Renaissance was busy showing it's popularity. The service was prompt and efficient and the Menu du Jour an enjoyable three course lunch.

It is a nice place to have coffee in Falaise, I was there in my way to La Roche, really classy looking

What a wonderful waiter - in a world of meanspirited dullards, this man brought more than a little joy to my receptive heart as he tirelessly explained the menu in Franglais with jokes and smiles and nods and winks and theatre and general good heartedness. This is not fine dining, it is good French food with 8 salads at least on offer with about 4 choices for plat du jour on the blacboard and an extensive list of other hot & cold choices. It is so busy lunchtime that it shuts in the evening. I am so glad we found this place...

Can't survive on the coffee given to us in our guest houses we decide to get a good one or die. So when we got to Falaise for visiting the castle, we decided to have a stop at some restaurant and drink some coffee. The one in Renaissance was fantastic as well as the service - fast & friendly. We haven't eaten anything there but the people around us seemed to be satisfaited
