La Cave - Eymoutiers

L'intérêt de ce restaurant a été ouvert en septembre lorsque la majorité des restaurants sont fermés pour les vacances. D'autre part, vous devez être satisfait avec des plats précuits et chauffés -viandes

carte qui ne correspond pas du tout à ce qui est servi. La salade gourmande devait contenir un toast avec une belle tranche de foie gras, vu sur photo, la 1ere serveuse qui était aimable, me dit qu'il n'y a pas de foie gras, je peux comprendre, grippe aviaire , etc...elle me dit on remplace par de la mousse de canard avec un peu de foie gras dedans. j'ai dit ok. Déception quand ma commande est arrivée. un toast avec une tranche de rillette de canard avec un peu de foie gras, tranche de moins de 1 cm, et très salé. quand la deuxième serveuse est arrivée, j'ai voulu lui dire, elle m'a répondu, vous avez accepté, donc...finalement il faut que je me taise. je lui ai fait remarquer que le menu est trompeur, salade gourmande, avec gésiers ,on trouve les mêmes en grande surface sous plastique, et fois gras. assiette à 12 euros 90. Elle m'a répondu qu'elle ne pouvait pas effacer cette assiette sur le tableau, c'est le menu pour un an. il y a de quoi rire ! Serveuse, désagréable et arrogante, qui au lieu de s'excuser , normal, c'est quand même un gros mensonge, nous renvoie balader.Quand à la 3ieme serveuse, pour les glaces, pas un sourire, vous arrache le menu des mains. super sympathique.Apéritif, attente d'une bonne demi heure pour avoir une assiette de tapas surgelé. Nous avons demandé par deux fois, de l'eau, il a fallut que ma fille se déplace pour qu'on finisse par avoir une bouteille. Oui, il y avait du monde, c'est sur, et ce qui est sur aussi, il y a une totale désorganisation. On pose à peine les couverts que nos assiettes sont enlevées. La patronne n'était pas là, c'est bien dommage. IL est sur que je ne reviendrai pas dans ce restaurant, et que je n'encouragerai pas mes amis a y aller . A éviter.Merci d'avoir gâché, une soirée que ma fille était heureuse de nous offrir.j'ai oublié , les frites ne sont pas maison, contrairement à ce qu'on pourrait croire..

Just moved to the local area and yesterday was the second time my husband and I have attempted to visit La Cave but sadly we have been very rudely turned away on both occasions.Yesterday we grabbed a seat outside and whilst waiting to have our order taken I went in to use the toilet and was approached by a woman who told me there would be someone with us in 5 mins. Which was absolutely fine by us.At the same time we walked in a table of about 10 people walked in and served promptly. I used the toilet and rejoined my husband at the table outside. Then another woman, with dark hair, who had been rude and turned us away last time came out and started shouting 'no no no' and started waving her hands at us in a very aggressive manner...no explanation and just walked off to serve the table next to us? We were clearly gobsmacked...and embarrassingly all the tables around us were staring thanks to this waitresses public display of whatever it was??? We ended up going to the lovely bar next door instead for food and drinks where the host was extremely helpful, polite and bent of backwards to speak English to us. I wouldn't step foot in La Cave ever again!

Been twice and enjoyed excellent food on both occasions. Service is a little slow at times and one waitress in particular is very curt and could be seen as rude.

We went with our 2 children for an dinner. The food was great but the service left us feeling we were an inconvenience... such a shame- given the attitude we ended our meal early and left before pudding. This sort of service gives the French a bad name. I have eaten all over France and made over 50 trips and in reality this sort of attitude is very rare. Shame it was our last evening.

Though not an extensive menu - the food was excellent. Prompt and polite service - 4 kids thrown into the mix and all in all a great meal. Thank you

La Cave is a Restaurant we return to time after time. The Menu is not vast but what it contains is very well prepared and promptly served.Its also remarkable value for money.Don't forgo the deserts -- one of the best Creme Brulee's I've tasted. (It pays to book, as the local professionals come in significant numbers for lunch -- always a recommendation.)

Three of us had lunch here yesterday, having arrived on the steam train excursion from Limoges along with a horde of others. We booked a table, so were seated at once, and what followed was an outstanding example of high skill and deft management of customers. Although many people arrived at once, and almost filled the restaurant, everyone was served in good order, without being kept waiting too long. The waitresses kept up a steady flow of orders so that the kitchen was not overwhelmed, and the whole service 'ballet' was smooth and professional, handled with great charm. Although the menu is basic, the food is superb. A burger and chips might seem simple enough, but at La Cave these humble items are beautifully made and served in style, with frites to die for, by lovely staff. This establishment does a great job of serving simple but exceptional food, and the whole experience elevates the apparently 'ordinary' menu. It is a 'must' if you are in Eymoutiers, and will spoil you for anywhere else. A burger or croque monsieur will never be the same again...
