They only serve galettes or crepes but if you have the appetite go for a savoury galette and a sweet crepe. Absolutely scrumptious. Really crispy galette and so tasty, and washed down with a fermier cidre. It is not a town you would necessarily stop in, we were ready for some lunch and thought we would see what was on offer. One of those great finds you wish happened more often

We were in Normandy for a 3 day tour of the landing beaches and our host had recommended a restaurant near his B&B. They were full that night, but the owner pointed us to Le Ratelier. The restaurant is easy to find and the staff was very warm and welcoming. There is a wide variety of Galettes and Crepes. We each ordered a different dinner Galette and a desert crepe. It was a nice French dinner experience for people not looking to spend too much time or money on dinner.

We first went to Ratelier about 7 years, when our in laws stumbled across it. We have since bought a holiday house 8km from Coutance and have continued to visit every time we are over normally 5 times a year. We take all our family/friends who visit us there and recommend it guests who rent our house. We love the gallettes especially the norvegiane which is smoked salmon and cream. We are ALWAYS made to feel most welcome and have never had a bad meal. We suggest you book if there a few of you. We are a family of 5 so book. I remember once just my partner and I went and there was no tables but they made space by splitting a table. I give the Ratelier the thumbs up every time a perfect eatery for a family or a cosy table for two.

Hidden little gem of a restaurant near the cathedral of Coutances. Galettes and crêpes are made to order and are just exquisite! Tip: try a "galette caramel beurre salé" for dessert. You won't be disappointed.

We wanted to taste Specialties in Coutances and this restaurant was recommended. Both galettes and crepes tasted good and I recommend this popular restaurant.

We've been going to Le Ratelier for over 10 years on a fairly regular basis. It always fills up at lunch time, which tells you something. The owner and staff are always welcoming and there is a cosy relaxed atmosphere. The galettes and crepes are always made to order. The menu may seem a bit limited to some people, but this is a creperie after all and there is a good selection of fillings. I would always recommend cider with galettes, so would discount the previous "wine" about the wine.

We were over on business near Coutances and after the obligatory wine buying session in the hypermarket we needed somewhere to grab a quick bite away from the tedium of our hotel. This was the top restaurant on Trip advisor so off we went. A friendly little Creperie, with a nice atmosphere, reasonable prices and prompt service. The menu was pretty standard, but the food was nicely prepared and the fillings were not skimped.Plenty of locals drifting in as the evening progressed which is always a good sign especially on a wet January nightSo all in all a great little place and somewhere we would recommend to any one - If your not pretencious!

On our way back to our b&b in Valognes, we stopped in Coutances for a quick dinner. Wandering around the city, we stumbled upon Le Ratelier. Off on a side street, it looked cozy and inviting. Red lampshades accented a warm interior. Clearly a place the local population keeps in business year around. The meal for the 7 of us was fabulous. Both the dinner and dessert crepes were flavorful and filling. The house wines were tremendous -- no surprise in France -- and the service was prompt and friendly. Worth looking for when your travels take you to this part of Normandy.
