We visited this restaurant for lunch. We had to turn the whole experience into a joke, likening it to Fawlty Towers. The owner was a bully of the worst sort, shouting at the waiting staff in front of the diners and gushing over some guests whilst ignoring others. The food was poorly cooked and of the cheapest quality and we really felt we were rather in the way.Avoid this place at all costs.

For those of you old enough to have started way back exploring the delights of France using this man as your guide you will appreciate what a find this is. Old France at its best. The food was basic, wholesome and delicious. The quality of ingredients for the price of the menu was incredible. The starter buffet included both old favourites and new twists and was copious in its variety and quantity. The steak actually tasted of beef; somewhat of a rarity in Britain these days unless one pays a lot more. The puddings were traditional but very nice and mostly faites a la maison. The welcome was genuine and, whilst not being pretentious, it made one feel comfortable and at ease. The house wine, complete with the menu, was very palatable and I have tasted far worse in bottles at other places. The bill was probably the biggest surprise of the visit and would have been acceptable had it been twenty euros more. A definite find and we have meant to dine there several times before but never got round to it but will definitely do so when next in Chatillon. Even considering a few days break on their demi or pension complet offer which seems amazing. they have been there 35 years and I can see why they have survived in a very competitive market. Vive la France.

We were staying just down the road at the Chateau Courban, where we had had the most terrible and expensive gastronomic experience the night before. This was completely the opposite, it was cheap and cheerful, good food fo the money we paid, and good wine.

A great, hardworking man who serves delicious food for an amazing price! Recommend the steak with pepper sauce!

We were greeted by the patron and feel at home and served a delicious homemade meal, in classic French style, no foot just good food, and it was wonderful to be part of the local scene with gentlemen playing cards nearby, but no TV thank you. A good French meal three courses and coffee for €20 can not be bad.
