We have eaten at La Criée, Chancelade, several times, and have always found it to be a pleasant place for a weekday lunch during a shopping trip. Today we were "pushing the boat out" and I had the Plateau de Fruits de Mer. This is advertised as being from 17.50 euros but you don't get a lot for that. I chose the most expensive of the four categories at 42.50 euros and got half a small lobster, oysters, crevettes and one small langoustine. I didn't want any whelks or winkles so was allowed extra oysters & crevettes. I asked for this to be served at the same time as R's starter of three grilled sardines. We shared a bottle of dry white wine which was quite refreshing but I thought 33 euros was quite a price for it. As we had half an hour sitting over this as an aperitif before our food arrived, it would have been nice to have been offered something to nibble with it.R had a piece of salmon poached in sorrel sauce on tagliatelle, while I continued to eat my seafood. It was all quite nice but I would have liked a bit of crab, too, at this price. Our crêpes Suzette were a bit of a disappointment as we had expected them to be cooked at the table - they weren't - we couldn't taste any Grand Marnier or anything like it, and the whipped cream from a pump tasted synthetic.Coffee came with a little square of chocolate and the service was very friendly and pleasant. On reflection, I think we will stick to the basic menu on a weekday lunchtime in future.
