As an expat living in Haute de Seine I am required to regularly wait in line at the Sous-Prefecture in Boulogne-Billancourt for temporary and permanent cartes des sejours. The SP itself is a soulless 1970s cinder-block behemoth inspired by Soviet design. So when I ultimately am next in line at the guichet when the clerk breaks for lunch, I try to exit the building for my dejeuner. C'est mieux pour le sante. On my most recent SP sojourn, I happened upon Ristorante Bella Vita just a couple blocks north on rue de Sevres. It's an oasis of warm service! I asked for a special order of margarita pizza with rocket (arugula) on top. Bien sur they could accommodate my request. The thin crust pizza was piping hot and made with fresh ingredients. A glass of the house chianti and I was ready to steel myself for the disdainful "service" I would receive at Guichet 10. Judging from the packed house as I departed, les gens in Boulogne-Billancourt agreed. The pastas on our neiboring tables looked worth a try next time. Ill be back.
