Wonderful place. We had the basic menu which was fabulous, can't fault anything and such great value. Took the 1 year old too and the staff couldn't have been nicer, they loved interacting with him. Nice pitcher of house wine thrown in. We loved it...More

We came this restaurant with five other friends, two of whom had eaten here recently and highly recommended the establishment. We were not disappointed. It is run by an elderly "Edith Piaf" style woman who is very "with it" and cooks all the food which is sourced from her garden and/or locally. When the booking was made we had to say which menu we were going for. Three of us had the 18 euro 'Menu du Jour' and the other three had he 35 euro menu. Both were excellent. The only reason I didn't give this restaurant 5 stars was because the food didn't arrive hot and I also like my plates to be warm but this certainly didn't deter from eating every morsel on my plate. The soup starter was absolutely delicious as were the garlic croutons accompanying it. We had a mixed salad starter whilst the more expensive menu had a fois gras brulee which looked delicious, as well as cepes, salad and smoked duck. The bread accompanying the soup and starter was also very tasty. We then had chicken with vegetables (all seasonal) whilst the expensive menu had a huge piece of fillet of beef. Dessert was either fresh strawberries with home cooked meringues or Isles flotant which one of our party had and said was delicious. Also a little disappointed as there was no cheese board which is extremely unusual for it not to be offered in a French restaurant. Perhaps I'm being a little picky here as we really didn't need it! :-) Red wine was also served with the meal and included in the price. I'm not a red wine fan but the other finished off two carafes. All in all I would recommend this restaurant but you have to book. In the summer there is a lovely outdoor seating area which in a couple of months time will have the vines in full leaf.

We found this hidden gem by accident as we left Hautefort towards the Correze, just 5 minutes on the D62. It looked all but closed and we worked out it was reservation only. The phone message was in French which was another obstacle, but fortunately we found the proprietor in the kitchen and reserved for that evening. We discussed our requirements and budget and she did the rest. The meal that we enjoyed under the ancient vine was out of this world. A home made mushroom soup, starter was a tartelet with salad, main course tournedos of beeg, one non meat eater having fish and a delicious clafoutis with crème Anglais for dessert or cheese. Service was impeccable, the host. Chantal, a treasure trove of stories and she was happy to provide homemade chips for our youngest child who shared my meal. The decoration of each plate with fresh , edible flowers was a special touch and it made every course a photo opportunity! Highly recommended and do reserve as it is well worth it!

A friend booked 7 of us in for my wife's birthday. The welcome was wonderful, the service superb and the food was out of this world. I can't remember when I last had a meal where it was impossible to fault anything ( I suppose if you are extra picky, they gave us Burgundy glasses for the red Bordeaux, but then, it was a special wine). I realise it is off the beaten track but would strongly recommend anyone, even an hour or so's drive away to visit it and experience a `gastronomic orgasom'.We started with truffle soup, the `real' pate de fois gras, followed by tournedos aux cepes, cheese

We were staying in Chapeau which is a short walk away from this restaurant. We booked for 7 of us on our second to last night and we were so pleased that we did. The food was amazing (local french cuisine) and the hosts were truly delightful. Although we weren't at all fluent in French, nor the host fluent in English, we managed to have a good giggle and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. At the end of the meal, I went to pay with my bank card but they only accepted cash (makes sense as its only a small family restaurant). I asked where the nearest ATM was but it was in Hautfort, some distance away. The owner waved her hand and said it would be no problem to pay tomorrow - it was 227 Euros! How lovely and trusting. So we booked for dinner the next night also and paid her in full. Again, amazing food and wine and can't recommend highly enough for food, setting and staff.

Situated in a quiet little village near Hautfort Castle, the restaurant provides a quality eating experience. From the delicious mushroom soup to the homemade desserts.

A truly French restaurant with a wonderful welcome. Chantal excels herself in providing delicious meals (using locally sourced meat and vegetables). Prices vary according to your choice and appetite but are always very good value for money. Highly recommended.

An unexpected and very pleasant surprise! This small family run restaurant in the sleepy town of Badefols d'Ans proved to be a real gem. We popped in in the morning to reserve a table and were asked about our dinner wishes. Chantal then went out of her way to prepare a fresh, wholesome and delicious meal for us (family of 4). Using regional, seasonal and home-grown products, she presented us that same evening with a delicious and colorful 3-course meal. Even the kids ate every last bite. The highlight was the Magret a l'Orange! And the bill was very friendly too! I would definitely recommend the place and hope to come back again!
