From the construction and fitting it was probably a stable 100 years ago, but makes for an interesting setting for this restaurant with its large open grill at the end of the room. All meat is cooked on the grill, as well as some vegetables, which gives tremendous flavour. The ladies manning the grill also wait on tables, serve the wine, and chat to customers - great atmosphere. Not fine dining, but the name L'Affenge means from the field, so a sort of farm to table restaurant. Had a very good meal, with an above average bottle of red wine, and finished off with a great Armagnac (at a reasonable price) Seemed to be frequented by locals with a smattering of tourists. We really liked it!
